My sisters and I decided it would be fun to make a quilt together for my mom. It was supposed to be given to her for her birthday of 2013 but ended up as Christmas for 2014. That’s what happens when there are the three of us moms juggling our schedules living in different cities. But we did it! YAY! Maybe the delay in time actually helped her forget she was actually getting one! ;)
The pattern is called Shortnin’ Bread, and it’s by Kari Ramsay. I found her etsy shop HERE but didn’t see that particular quilt listed. Maybe there are some other shops that sell it. My sister bought it in a quilt shop in Utah so it’s obviously around.
My mom actually helped us out a lot with the cost of the quilt by using some fabric that she already had and liked, then she came with us to the store to pick out some additional fabric that matched, and my sister already had the quilt pattern. It’s totally my mom’s style and it matches her living room so well.
I found THIS youtube video on binding and it’s the best I’ve come across so far. They aren’t perfect, but I was much more proud of the binding on this quilt than my previous quilts. I may actually be starting to like this quilting stuff. Though, we did pay someone else to have it quilted and I’m happy we did. I love the quilting that was done! So pretty.
And here’s my beautiful and amazing momma along with my beautiful sisters on Christmas Eve–we made her open it early so we could watch her :). I love having sisters, and I love it even more that they love to sew as well!
And if you can even believe it, I have already cut out all the fabric for two more quilt tops! They are for Christmas gifts so I figure if I start them now, I maybe have a chance to get them finished by the end of the year.
