Confession #1: Our Little Miss B sometimes crawls in bed with us and I am too lazy to take her back to bed.
Truth: I never did this with our boys. NEVER! We diligently walked them back to their rooms and made sure they were ok before returning to our room.
Fact: I don’t really care that much that B sleeps in our bed. She doesn’t do it every night and when she does, it’s often past 4:00 am so it’s not a big deal.
Unless: Unless I end up in the middle somehow. It hurts my back and I must sleep with my legs curled up and that doesn’t work if she sneaked her way onto my side and pushed me over while I slept.
Confession #2: I still have laundry to do from Hawaii. We’re talking mounds of it around here. It’s getting ridiculous. I’ve set my alarm twice to get up and fold some before my kids woke up, but both time Little Miss B is in our bed and I don’t want to wake her up.
Story: This week B climbed into bed at who knows what time. I didn’t even realize it until she started to kick my curled up legs at about 6:00 am and say, “Mom! Mom! Move your legs. MOVE!” (This 3 year old has attitude). So I tried to move around and she kept scooting over so I squished more and more to Dillon’s side and was actually doing what she told me because I wasn’t awake all the way! Seriously, as soon as I realized what was happening, I sat up in bed and looked at that impossible little girl and said, “This is MY bed! Not yours! If you aren’t comfortable, go back to your bed!” I know, I’m such a good mom. She refused, and rather than wake up my husband and her at 6 in the morning I just got out of bed and started to address our Christmas cards.
Moral: If you ever decide setting your alarm to fold laundry is a good idea, you are too ambitious. It’s better to be a lazy bum and sleep in as long as your kids will let you. Lesson. learned.
What does this have to do with an apron for my beloved little three year old? Mostly the fact that if I still have laundry from when we went to Hawaii, and my house is a disaster and I’m still getting Christmas gifts ready and wrapped, I was NOT going to be able to find time to enjoy making her two princess dresses like I had planned. I had even bought all the fabric before we left for Hawaii. Bummer. I really wanted to but the thought of it really stressed me out. I was so happy to be at Walmart one day and find princess dresses for $10.00! Hallelujah!
I still love to make at least one special thing from me for my kids, and I’ll show you tomorrow what I made my boys, but this was it for B since she’s getting a play kitchen from Santa this year. So fast and easy, and I finally got to use this cute lemon fabric I’ve had for quite a long time.
The green is from a $2.00 shirt I snagged at Old Navy over a year ago. I traced an existing Dollar Tree child apron for the pattern.
I think the flower took just as long to make as the whole apron!
I can’t wait to see her playing kitchen with this on!

LOL! Loved your post. And I strongly beieve that kids rather have a relaxed mum, then tons of home made pressies and a stressed out mum. The apron looks so cute!

My first born was never in my bed, my youngest – now 11 – still wanders in after a bad dream or thunder storm. :o)

Adorable! I used your hand sanitizer holder yesterday to make a few gifts, and have to say a big thank you! What a great tutorial and idea. People probably thought I was crazy when I pulled out my measuring tape and started measuring the hand sanitizer at Walmart, hehe. I’ll post about it soon!

Cute apron, I love that it’s made from repurposed clothes.
My youngest, also 3, got an apron and kitchen set from her grandmother this year, and she LOVES it. She wears the apron full time. (We exchanged this past weekend with them.)

Your post made my day. I love laughing at the funny antics of life! I hope that you get your laundry done eventually. Laundry can be such a gloomy cloud above us sometime just waiting to be done! Yesterday my dryer ate one of my buttons on my cardigans, and it was stuck in the drum of the dryer. So I got to put off laundry another day until my husband could pry the button out. :) I love the apron, and it’s super cute. Love that lemon fabric as well.

Hahaha oh Christie you make me laugh! I have totally been there, my hubby winds up in the middle of the bed, we’ve managed to pick up a 4 yr old dictator at some point, and I find myself scooching until my butt is hanging over the edge of the bed before I’m conscious enough to be like “hey, wait a minute…!” LOL.
What a sweet little apron, that’s a good idea, I should whip some up for my little princesses.

Lol! That is hilarious! And I’m actually glad to hear that she occasionally sleeps with you. I’ve always wondered what I did wrong when you told me that your boys never got in your bed, when all of mine take turns coming in our bed. :) Way cute apron! Can’t wait to see what you made for the boys.

Lol! I think we get more lax as we have more kids…I have 5, and as each one came along, there were less and less ‘rules’. With #5, his crib had to be in our room. Right from the start, every night I would settle him into his crib, only to have him wake up shortly after. It was just so much easier to bring him into our bed. We ended up buying a king size to make room for all of us. He is now 9 and I don’t regret all the cuddle time we had with him.
Love the apron!! My granddaughter is 3 and I know she would love one! Maybe after Christmas Nana Sue can get one made!

This is on my christmas wish list for my mom. Such a good daughter, I’d rather stress her out making me and my daughter aprons than add to my stress this season. I tease! (I only suggested it to my mom and kept my fingers crossed… if not it’ll be a project for after the busyness ha!)Very cute! Love the fabrics.

I used that EXACT material for my first sewing project!! Only, silly me, my lemons are upside down!! I was so embarrassed, but my husband said he couldn’t tell !! I love the green trim too!!!

I love it! A friend of mine just got one of those fancy Pier 1 aprons for Christmas and I thought “I could have made that!”
