Ya know Dana from MADE? She’s pretty much amazing. Well, a while back I was thinking that I wanted to make a Bakugan Bag for my kids, and maybe for their friends if they have a birthday or something. SO, when Dana posted her tutorial for the Hobo Sack, I thought that I’d just use that pattern to make a bag, but just add a couple little things to make it more Bakugan-ish. I got the flame fabric from Wal-Mart. It isn’t good quality–at all, but it worked. I just showed my boys some choices and asked which one looked the most like Bakugan to them.
Inside the bag, I used clear vinyl for the Bakugan cards. The pocket measures 3.5″ x 4″.
Click HERE to find a downloadable template for the circle and the B. The B is a bit blurry, but it worked fine for this project. (I found my B online HERE. )Trace the circle onto cotton fabric or whatever you want the circle on the bag to be, and trace it also onto Heat and Bond.
Sew the vinyl pocket on first. Then iron on the circle. When you do this, I had to make sure to use a piece of paper in the pocket so I didn’t melt the vinyl! I used a zig-zag stitch around the entire circle.
Freezer paper stencil the B on, and you are good to go!

Even before wanting to make this bag, though, I thought of a little something more. These next pictures show what has been in the works for over a month. It feels really great to be done. I knew it would take more time to make, but I also knew my kids would think it was cool, which, they totally do. It took some time to make the PDF file and design the whole thing, and it’s done–YEA! (with encouragement, thankfully, from my friend Sabra).
So the PDF file is available in my shop!
Aaannnnd, both bags could totally be girly-fied. Have a fabulous day!

i was thinking about making MADE’s backpack for my nephews, and this one will be perfect since they LOVE bakugan too! where did you get the fabric to make the circle on the front??
Christie
Jennifer, I edited the post to let people know that I got the flame fabric from Walmart:). Hope that helps!
Sabra
well, you know as soon as my boys see your kids’ I’m going to have to buy the pattern. It seriously turned out awesome, Christie. Love LOVE the strap.

Also, I was going to mention this when I saw you yesterday and forgot. TOTALLY perfect for Littlest Pet Shop animals, I bet, too. Maybe not the cards. I dunno, do LPS have cards? I’m a little out of the “girl toy loop”. But that size of pockets I know would work.
Kitty Talk
I HATE the Bakugon stuff because we always loose the cards and my 18 month old can fit one of the balls in her mouth and it freaks me out! This would be a perfect solution! Good thinking.

what a cool idea. I would totally not have thought of doing this, but it would make finding the bakugans so much easier:>
