Candy Corn Hats and Purse Entries

10/09/2010 By Christie

WOW!  I am so impressed you guys.  206 entries!  I’ve emailed the judges and will let you know when the top 10 will be posted as soon as I hear from them.

In the meantime, thank you.  Thank you for reading my blog. Thank you for supporting the guests this week.    It takes a lot of their time and so I really appreciated their time, but also your time if you left them a comment showing them your support for their awesome talents!  And thank you for posting about purse week on your blogs and participating!  I’m excited to see who makes the top 10!  It’s going to be difficult!

I was indeed up until past midnight MST last night, and changed the flickr pool so nothing else could be added.  If you got a message saying, “Oops, you’ve reached the limit for this group…”  then it was past the time required to add them.  So sorry!

Remember how I said I was going to try out the Upcycled Boy Hats tutorial by Cheri from I Am Momma – Hear Me Roar?  That’s just what I did for these candy corn hats.   I love them, and my boys REALLY love them.

In order for me to have enough fabric, I had to put a seam in the front and back on the yellow portion for two of the hats, but that’s ok!

Then I made a girl version and still loved it, but Little Miss B kept telling me, “I don’t wike it.  Messin’ up my hay-uh.”  Translation:  I don’t like it.  Messing up my hair.  She hasn’t been excited about what I’m making her lately!  I had to post the picture showing her enthusiasm:

So I told her to chase me and I was able to get some smiling pictures.

The hats were SUPER easy.  I made all 3 of them in about an hour.  Much faster than I had anticipated.

The only thing I bought was an orange shirt at Family Dollar for a buck.

I love sewing for my kids!  Thanks for the great tutorial, Cheri!

DOH! I totally thought the deadline was tonight. Oh well, I wouldn’t have been in the running anyway and I’m happy with what I made.

Love the hats! So much fun.

Making them like candy corns was a really cute, creative idea. You did a great job, too. They look so stinkin’ cute!!! Looks like your little girl feels the same way about hats and pictures as my little Baden. I always have to give him a sucker or something :) Anyhow, I can’t wait to see the purse finalists. Such a fun contest!
