Circle Circle Skirt for B: Accuquilt Tutorial

08/24/2011 By Christie

DSC_1305I was so excited to get the Accuquilt GO! Baby Cutter.  I love that there is nothing to be plugged in and figure out.  It is SO user friendly and I love that my kids won’t hurt themselves on it if they want to help me.  It is small and folds up even smaller, which I also think is great. DSC_1278I chose the circle dies and I’m happy with it!  As everyone knows who has tried to cut circles out of fabric how difficult that can be. Not with this Baby!   I first made Dana’s Circle Skirt for Little Miss B, thus the Circle Circle skirt :).

I wanted to add some circles using my new machine.  All I had to do was cut a small piece of fabric (or up to six layers of fabric at a time!) to fit the size circles I was cutting.  I didn’t want to use the biggest circle, so I just didn’t cover that circle with fabric.DSC_1280

You place the cutting mat on top of the fabric, and roll it through the machine.  My kids loved helping me with this part.    DSC_1286

Tada!  So easy.DSC_1287

I went on ahead and cut some circles out of heat n’ bond.  Although I wouldn’t do a bunch of layers of this at a time because they stuck together really badly and it was difficult to get them apart.DSC_1288

I ironed the heat n’ bond onto the backs of the circles following the instructions on the heat n’ bond.DSC_1289

Then I just arranged the circles onto the skirt how I liked, pinned, then ironed them in place, removing the pins as I went along.  You may want to sew the circles down—I think I will but hadn’t yet in these pictures. (Yes, the circles look off in this picture, but it’s folded under on the left side—it really is even :).  DSC_1292DSC_1294DSC_1297DSC_1303

B LOVES a good twirling skirt.  If one of her better “twirlers” are available to wear, it’s always her first choice.  If she gets a new skirt or dress, that’s her first test—to see if it twirls very well.DSC_1308DSC_1311

She saw me taking pictures of her bottom half, and leaned over because of course I was missing her head!DSC_1314DSC_1318DSC_1320

Excellent skirt! And excellent twirler! I used to love twirling as a kid too, so am with your daughter on that criteria for skirts! I love gadgets that make making life easier! Wish you well with it.
