Flower Trim Belt Tutorial

11/09/2010 By Christie

While I was at Joann last week, I noticed this beautiful trim that you can purchase by the yard.  It was a bit pricey, but with a 40% off coupon, it ended up being around $3.00/yard.

As you can imagine, sewing some pretty trim onto ribbon to make a belt is extremely easy, and I just love my new belt!

What You Will Need:

-pretty trim

-ribbon

-fray check

Treat ends of ribbon with fray check.DSCF3105

Find middle of trim and ribbon.  DSCF3106

Pin the ribbon and trim together, every 3 inches (or use the pattern of the trim as a guide to how often you will sew it.DSCF3108

Sew the width where the pins are.

The front will look like this now:DSCF3122

And the back like this:DSCF3123

Very quick project, with beautiful results!  DSCF3127

You could do this with a variety of trims and laces. DSCF3124

I’ve seen this trim at JoAnn’s and was trying to think of some cute ways to use it–the belt is adorable!! You are so creative!
By the way, did you make the shirt you’re wearing in the pic? I love the ruffles!

Thanks for this Belt Celebration. I’ve been needing belts and now I’ve got lots of ideas. LOVE this belt. I’m going shopping for trim. I’m thinking bright pink pom poms would make a sweet belt (hee hee).
