These are pictures taken of Miss B for her 3rd birthday (you’ve seen the dress details HERE).
I have been really enjoying learning more about my camera, but still find myself taking a lot of bad manually set pictures. Practice practice practice! I am happy with how a few turned out, but it seems so often those are the ones taken on auto.
I want to know a LOT more than I know. And that is how {photography week} came about.
When and what is {photography week}? November 7th-11th. I’ll have 4 guest posts from amazing photographers. Not all of them are professional photographers, I just admire the work of all of them so much and feel like they could all be professionals! They will be giving us helpful tips on making our pictures better, without a lot of talk on some things we might not understand.
Why I want to learn photography better and focus on that for a week here?: I want us all to feel like we can take better pictures without being intimidated. I want us all to feel like we can take a few tips and apply it immediately to our picture taking. Why do I feel so passionate about learning to take better pictures? Is it because “everyone” is doing it these days? “Everyone” is buying a nicer camera and wanting to learn more about photography, right? Maybe they all realized that there’s just something great about capturing their lives in a more creative, beautiful way!
Who’s Guest Posting?: I’m so very excited to have these lovely ladies as guests!
Monday: Delia from Delia Creates
Tuesday: Rachelle (my sister who has yet to make a craft blog…which she totally could and should, but here is her Photography Site)
Wednesday: Me (a post linking you to some great photography tips)
Thursday: Lori from This Little Life of Mine (she just moved so I’m really thankful she agreed!)
Friday: Katie from Katie Dudley Photography
Awesome, right? It’s going to be a great week.
and just because…what is photography to me?
Photography captures the moments that I want to document. It’s the little things I don’t want to forget. Like the funny faces my kids pull that show their personalities.
It’s being creative and always learning how I can take better pictures. And then it’s practicing often. It’s the joy of looking at the pictures you’ve taken and realize that you are documenting your life, your loved ones, your happiness.
It’s capturing moments like this, where my little girl falls and looks to me to make sure she’s ok.
I’m sure this next picture has all sorts of things wrong with it, especially to the professional eye, but I love it. Her hands are blurred, my lens is probably dirty, I probably didn’t expose things right, etc. etc. But I think she looks like an angel. I’ll keep learning and practicing because it’s fun!
Photography is finding random things that just bring you joy. This canoe has the best colors and the picture just makes me happy.
**Do I think I’m awesome at it? No way! Do I occasionally take a billion pictures and have only a couple of good ones? You bet. Those are the ones you see on the post today, which I realize aren’t even that stellar, but I know that I’m improving and that’s what matters.**
So yes, I love photography just like “everyone” else does ;). But really, what is wrong with so many people loving it? I am excited to dedicate a week here on photography. I hope you are, too!
And in case you want to spread the word, here are a few camera colors to choose from. Just copy and save the picture, then link the picture’s html code to this post when you “add a gadget”, and you’ll be set!
This is so exciting! I SO need help in the photography department!! Looking forward to it!
I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve had my “nice” camera for almost a year. I feel like I’ve learned so much, but I know I have a long way to go. Great idea for a series :)
I’m really looking forward to this! I really want to improve as well. Thank you for lining up all these resources to share with us.
