Japan Disaster Relief

03/15/2011 By Christie

I’ve received two emails this week asking me to donate to various funds or auctions for Japan.  I really want to help, and I had been researching ways to donate through the LDS church, of which I am a member of.   I had wanted to post a link on Sunday that would direct anyone who wanted to donate directly to aid Japan, but couldn’t find one just for that.  So I did nothing, which wasn’t right!

One of the people I’ve never met, but have really enjoyed getting to know better through email, is Sachiko of Tea Rose Home.  She is from one of the areas that was hit hard, and has great worries and concerns for her friends, family, and everyone affected!  It is heartbreaking to watch even without knowing anyone there, so I cannot imagine how hard this is for her.

After reading Sachiko’s post, I have to agree with her attitude, that although there isn’t a specific fund just for Japan, I have no doubt that the LDS church will help those affected by the earthquake and tsunami, and give as much humanitarian aid as possible.  100% of your donation will go to help those in need!  That is what we want, right?!

Sachiko has a button you can post on your blog to spread the word.  (click on image to be directed to her post)

I know that there are a lot of other great organizations out there that are helping those affected as well.  So let’s all join together and help out as much as we can, wherever we can.

I think I was checking her blog every hour until she announced she heard from her sister. I started bawling!!! :) Tonight for FHE we worked on our food storage and emergency preparedness. Thanks for posting the link, it is amazing how organized the Church is, and how fast they come to the aid of people in these situations.
