I feel a bit disconnected to my readers sometimes. And I’d rather not feel that way:). So while I work on a couple projects this week, in the meantime, I want to know some things!
First off, let’s talk about posts per week. What is a good number for people to post a week? I can’t promise that I can change that right now as my family has to come first, but I just wondered what you all think is an ideal number of posts per week.
What about replying to your comments? I try and reply—especially if it is a really sweet comment, or when you have questions. I actually really like replying when I have time, but I wondered what you think about it. And I’m always bummed out when I hit reply and people don’t have their emails hooked up to their profiles (I respect your choice to do that, but sometimes I’d love to answer a question and I can’t). I feel more connected to people when I reply—it’s sort of my way of thanking you for taking the time. Yes, it’s normally a quick reply, and I don’t get a ton of comments and so I feel like I can reply to the comments at night, but I just wondered about that. Anna from Noodlehead got me thinking about this one on her post here.
What do you like about my blog? What do you want to see differently?
You know how Cheri from I Am Momma – Hear Me Roar has a theme every day? I really like how structured she is on her blog. You know just what to expect. I would love to feel a little more organized with my blog, mostly because I’m a pretty organized person. Not necessarily something every day, but at least a bit more structure around here. Any thoughts on that?
What else would you like to see? Do recipes interest you? Great finds or tutorials I’d like to try? Believe me when I say I have a VERY LONG list of tutorials saved in my favorites. Etsy finds? Other projects other than mostly sewing? Do you have questions for me that you’d like answers to?
I guess I just want to know what you all think and what you’d like to see differently! Since Purse Week, Sew Through the Decades, and Craft With Your Kids Week is over, I feel like I have a minute to ask you all your opinion. It really does matter to me!
ciccia_pota
I really think you should post what you feel more good at, or that you enjoy most!

Olá, adoro visitar seu blog. Mesmo sem post eu sempre acho coisas para ver e rever. Seu trabalho é maravilhoso. e já está em meu favoritos do dia a dia.
Um abraço

Tutorials are always great and so are etsy finds! I think people also want to see what you are interested in, if that happens to be a recipe or something else non-sewing related, so be it! I read mostly sewing blogs but that doesn’t mean I am not interested in other things. Your posts are always awesome! :)
EBeauty03
Variety is wonderful. I don’t think you necessarily need structure, you can keep us on our toes. Is it going to be a recipe today? How about a tutorial? YAY a kids craft! It’s always fun when we don’t know what’s coming.
As far as responding, it’s nice to hear a response, BUT, if you didn’t have time to respond to me I wouldn’t un-follow your blog :)
AMAZING BLOG!

I do like to read blogs where the author tells me a bit of herself. Not necessarily the TMI kind. At the same time I don’t mind blogs which have a lot of pretty images. What turns me off is regular posts which are quite forced like “Wordless Wed” or “Tooltime” becos sooner or later, the author will run out of ideas and it won’t be fun anymore. Just my opinion. Cheers.
Bree
As far as responding to comments, I never expect them when I leave a comment for someone, but it’s always nice to hear back from them. I try as hard as I can to respond to everybody who comments on my blog, and am in the same boat that I hate when I see that “no reply blogger” e-mail address! So I guess, in short, yes comments are nice, but I think we all understand your family comes first!
I think it would be great if you would share projects/tutorials you’ve found, even if you haven’t had a chance to make them yourself yet. I set up a separate page on my blog listing all the ones I find & want to do, it’s nice to keep them all in one place & share them.
As far as the theme thing goes, I say if it works for you, go with it! I struggle sometimes feeling like I have to fit into a mold I’ve set for myself, but some people can stay structured like that. I’ve really enjoyed the themed weeks (purse, decades, kids), even though I wasn’t able to participate.
I can’t wait to see what you’ve got to come!
Lynne
I follow your blog because of all the wonderful sewing content. I don’t think it’s necessary to have themes and schedules… it has to be whatever works for you. When the content of a blog becomes forced or filler, it’s not as interesting.
Thanks for sharing you amazing ideas and projects!
Sourkraut
I feel much the same way you do and I’ve only been blogging for a few months! I don’t think there’s any set formula for what you should do, just do what you want and I’m sure we’ll all still be on board. Share what interests you, whether it’s a new Etsy shop you’ve discovered, tutorials, or a recipe. You don’t even have to have tried the projects yourself, just pass it along if you’re inspired by someone else’s work. Honestly, I don’t know how you girls with kids find the time to blog since I have no kids and a husband who needs a lot of alone time so I feel like I’ve got nothing but free time. Even so I struggle some nights to find the time to sit down and blog. So do what you can, reply to comments when you can, and know that for every person who comments there are probably 50 more who read your post and enjoyed it but just didn’t find the time to leave a comment. Your blog is definitely appreciated by me!
Bethany
It’s yours so make it what you want:)
I like a little of this and a little of that, kind of what you have going on.
As far as posting frequency–I think a few times a week is good, or whatever you can fit in. I do get annoyed with blogs that have multiple posts in a day–I like to miss you for a few days, haha.
xo,
Bethany

It’s your blog! I say- do what you want.
So far, I am loving it.
I love the challenges and sewing projects and I especially love the things you make for yourself… cause I want to do that more and I’m inspired by people who do it.
Elsa
Your topics are interesting and full of color … you have 3 children and a husband! I don’t know how you have time to blog, do your crafting and have a life too! I really don’t think you need to change a thing, my truthful opinion. Enjoy it, like I do!
Marci
I really enjoy your blog just as it is! As a reader, I really enjoy the personal replies…it does bring us closer and breaks down the anonymity of it all.
I think 2-3 posts a week is plenty… just so we know you’re ok, and haven’t dropped off the planet. Sometimes people suddenly abandon their blog without notice (which is fine, totally their perogative)but we readers do love to hear from our favorites, of which you are one of mine. :)
Thanks for asking for feedback.
Regards,
Marci

The great thing about your blog theme “A Lemon Squeezy Home” is you can post anything that has to do with “home” and not be off base, or have confused readers. The possibilities are endless! I think it is good to let your blog evolve along with you and your life. Do what makes you happy and people will enjoy your sharing that with them.
Kayla
I’m a fairly recent reader but I think what you’ve got going on now works just perfectly for you! I wouldn’t say no to the occasional recipe though. I recently revamped the way I blog and am adding in recipes every week. I like food.
Jen
I love the tutorials that you post and would like to see some of the tutorials on your ‘to do’ list! I also enjoy seeing glimpses into bloggers regular lives. It doesn’t have to be super personal, just a fun family outing, a super great deal you got on a cute sweater, a recipe your family loves, or whatever every once in a while. That said, I’m a new subscriber and I like your blog just as it is!
TracyJ
I just recently found your blog and have really enjoyed it. Personally, I think you should post when you have time and want to and not feel pressured by a schedule. New posts by my favorite bloggers are a treat in my daily life, not something I expect. My all time favorite thing to see are tutorials but know they are very time consuming. Just do what you enjoy. Oh, and I never exoect a reply, but an occasional one is a nice surprise.
Valerie
A couple posts a week is great!I try to do the same on my blog… but lately it has been about one a week. But, hey, You gotta do whats best for the rest of your life and your family.
I always enjoy getting a response from people when I leave a comment… but don’t get upset when I don’t. I really love getting comments on my blog… and… try to reply to everyone as well. :)
I like your content… I really like tutorials. Even if you feature someone else’s you are planning to make or something, thats still cool. It’s fun to see what kind of projects other people are thinking about!
Your blog is Lovely, I really enjoy it. Thanks for sharing!
Apple Scrapper
I love tutorials; yours and other bloggers! I also like etsy favorites. I also love lots of pictures to go with posts! Keep up the cuteness! xoxo

I am new to your blog, so I can’t offer too much feedback yet, but so far i love it !:) Etsy finds would be a great thing to post, and of course tutorials. Both of those would interest me. oh, and recipes of course!

I’ve kind of felt that way with my blog lately too…disconnected. I have new followers, but no commenters, so I wonder if my randomness is not interesting or if they just read and smile…don’t know. I think it’s great to talk about what you like to do/eat/make/spend time with because your originality attracts readers. I am kind of random on my blog..I post whatever has me thinking at the moment for the most part. I’ll keep checking back here to see what you decide…and pssst…come visit me too. :) http://feethebirdies.blogspot.com

ooops….left out a d…it’s http://feedthebirdies.blogspot.com haha! :)

I like your blog. A lot. Looking at my craft blog subscriptions is part of my morning routine. It gets my creative juices flowing.
I don’t sew very often and when I do, it’s no more difficult then a pillow case. But I enjoy seeing the great photos of your creations. (the little flapper girl is my fave.)
I think it is important to blog about what feels good for YOU. When you are in tune with that, the readers will feel it. Sharing our passions is what existing here is all about. (for me at least.)
Keep up the awesome work!
Amy
Hi Christie. Your blog is one of my faves. I particularly like that you host and/or participate in a lot of theme projects like Crafting with your Kids, Purse Week, etc. I think it gives your blog good structure and your readers know what to expect.
Keep doin’ what you’re doin’ girlfriend!
Hannah
As a new reader I LOVE your blog the way it is. I would love comments on my comments, but totally understand that family comes first. I say, do what you are doing and have fun.
janetta
I love your blog. I care not if you have theme days, or not. Recipes…sure, they are great. I love what you are doing, and love when you share other blogs too!
Delia
I have been thinking about this too… I post so randomly. One week I will decide to post a lot and the next…not so much. I also don’t have any structure. Hmm…so that wasn’t really helpful was it? Just, saying that I feel similarly. At this point I guess all I can manage is to wing it. :)
I really like that you post great sewing tutorials. Those are my favorite! Recipes are great too. I am not a cook but I have to cook and sometimes I have fun with it…but it is still not my “thing.” When a fellow crafter shares a recipe I know it has to be good and probably more something I would make. Hope that gibberish helped at all.
Sarah
I don’t think any of that matters. I think blogs are so personal and reflect what the writer is like. You can’t really do what someone else does because it isn’t you. I say do what you are doing, we come here for a reason. Don’t do anything to suit others, it’s not a business.
Kathrin
For me a blog is like a public diary. So do what YOU want, show, what you are interested on, make tutorials of things you produced, tell about things you found at etsy.
You spend a lot of time for us, your reader, thank you.
Cheryl
blog about what you love and blog when you are able. If you want to feel structured only post on Mon. Wed. and Fridays or just Mondays and Fridays.
Enjoy the blogging community and what it has to offer, but don’t let your blog take over to the point you don’t enjoy it anymore.
I just started stopping by your blog. I love great tutorials to learn something new or be challenged.
Teresa
I love your blog. I like bloggers that do 5 or so posts a week, but I totally understand that this is too much for some. Anyone who posts less than once a week, I reconsider following.
As far as structure and content go, that is up to you. I personally don’t have an interest in recipes – my family are such fussy eaters that experimentation is difficult.
I follow your blog for the sewing. That is my interest. If you want to add a more varied kind of sewing content – I’m all for it.
Thanks for asking!!
lorchick @ ON{thelaundry}LINE
I like everything as it is, that’s why I follow you. Structure can be helpful but it can be limiting too, if you set yourself up with certain themes for certain days, unless you can come up with something for each of those themes on those particular days it can sometimes leave you floundering or feel forced. If it works well for you that’s great, but don’t lose the joy of blogging freely if that’s your thing either. We don’t need to hold ourselves up to anyone but ourselves, right? :)
Justine
Tutorials are always fun! But don’t ever feel pressured to blog every day. That’ll take the fun out of it.
Just Better Together
Sara
I think your blog is just fine! I love tutorials, but I think you have a good amount you post already. Everyone is busy, so I think 2-3 posts a week is completely appropriate (for posting as well as for reading!)
Mama Lusco
I love your blog just as it is. Your sewing is inspirational and wearable. Family always comes first, so let your blog be a fun creative outlet. Personally, life with 3 kiddos is too unpredictable for me to blog on a daily basis or schedule, but it does work for some…not something I would recommend, though. 3 posts a week is good! I read mainly sewing blogs for tutorials and inspiration in my sewing for 2 girls, my big boy and myself but also enjoy a good recipe, craft, or household humor. Replies are great but not expected from a famous gal like yourself :) I hope you find an easy balance between blogging & family life and are happy here. Keep up the great work!

I feel kind of stupid coz I would have never thought you could have that kind of doubts about your blog. I just love it (your blog, not the fact that I feel stupid ;-)! I am always amazed by your creativity, the diversity of it and your availibility and generosity.
I personnaly love leaving comments and must admit I wish I’d get more of them on my own as they are so encouraging. I also hate it though that blogger doesn’t give an easy opportunity to reply to comments. But when I leave one, I don’t at all expect to receive an answer. As I don’t think any one should be forced or feel forced about the messages they write, how often they do it and how long their reply to comments are.
I just realized I am writing this a bit late as you already posted a new adorable tutorial. i love that grey and yellow fabric you used!
sy
i love your blog it’s awesome :D for me anywhere from 1-7 posts a week is good, i love pictures and tutorials, posts about seasonal and holiday projects are nice too :D
Julianne
I love tutorials…
I don’t like recipes…
I love when someone comments on my blog so I try and do that on other blogs I read…however, I’ve never expected a reply back because who has time to reply back to 37 comments…on one post?
I love seeing what someone else has done with fabric…cause then I’m like, can I do that??
In my life, I love structure…on my blog (and those I read) I love randomness…so I’d have to say NO to the structure. It keeps me on my toes!
You have a great blog…keep em coming!

I truly enjoy your blog and LOVE that you reply to comments! I don’t know you personally, of course, outside of your web, but from the brief interaction through e-mail during craft week, it is obvious that you are conscientious and truly care about others. I love to watch your sewing creations & am grateful for any tutorials. I also hope to participate in future themed events, such as the craft week & purse contest. Follow your heart and let it be fun…So far, it’s working!!
