My Weekend Rocked

07/26/2010 By Christie

Before you zone out, I do have a tutorial coming this Wednesday.  So be excited for that ;).

I love camping so much.  Well, all of it besides packing and unpacking:).  I guess it’s probably because my family couldn’t afford any other type of vacation except for camping when I was growing up.  So that’s all we did.

We got to my extended family’s normal spot this weekend and I just felt happy.  It’s actually the perfect spot for camping with kids, as there are flushing toilets and concrete around the fire pits.  The kids trip less and it helps with the dirt.  There were hardly any flies where we were!

Since just my little family stayed a bit longer than we had planned, I ran out of diapers.  It was either pay $11.50 for 10 diapers the right size (size 4), or buy 2 diapers for $1.15 that were very much the wrong size.  That’s what I did—I’m cheap or something.

What did you do this weekend?  Do you have any awesome vacation spots your family goes every year?

What amazing pictures! Laughing at myself, because when you mentioned the diaper dilemma, I automatically thought you were about to pull a MacGyver and whip up some re-styled diapers from the too-big ones, or craft some thrifty ones from woven meadow grass or something!

We camped a lot when I was a kid, too. Our favorite spot was on the mainland just across the bridge at the southwest end of Galveston Island. Bay fishing, lagoon fishing, a general store, large pool, great restroom and shower facilities, a game room and – our favorite – a mini golf course.

We played hour after hour – just never playing the last hole so we wouldn’t lose our ball!

    Cheers,
    Laura

Great pictures – my daughters would be all over those snakes! Non-related question… what blogger template do you use and did CiCi studio design your logo and your header?

    Okay, two questions…thanks!

We went camping this weekend too! We love camping with the kiddos! Even though we had a blast I think the mountains in the back of those pictures had us beat! Just breath taking! What state did you go in?

Fun! Did you really squeeze her in size 1? Wow! I don’t even know how that would be possible, :) I know I couldn’t squeeze Trey into that.
I wish we all liked camping more so we could do more little vacations, but I really just don’t like it at all.

It’s SOOoo beautiful up there! Wow. You’l have to tell me again where it is and how to get up there( I know you told me once… ) Love the tiny diapers, it’s what any good, thrifty mom would do! :)

so cool. looks really beautiful. I just got back from camping too, only my place was dirty grubby ashy garbagey etc just from overuse and lack of care. it made me want to pick a new place. no pictures though except one day on the beach which is still in my camera. but I did get a lot of knitting done in “quiet time” every day sitting in the sunshine a bit too long for the suncreen to handle.
mm mm … wish I was there.
