A Stick Horse Named Dunderhead

12/08/2011 By Christie

DSC_0711

I made this horse for B when she turned 3 in September, but it’s a great present so I thought I’d post it finally.  When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she said a horse.  Once upon a time we lucked out and found a stick horse at the Dollar Tree, but they didn’t have them anymore and hers broke. So the night before her birthday, I found these two stick horse tutorials on Pinterest and combined the two:

Stick Horse Tutorial:  Light Blue Grey

and How to Make a Stick Horse:  ikatbag

An hour later I had this cutie.DSC_0701

She LOVES it!  So much.  She’s a cowgirl at heart, this one. Maybe it’s because her grandparents are.  DSC_0666DSC_0671DSC_0673DSC_0675

Making the horse give us kisses.DSC_0681DSC_0683DSC_0708

I think I love his big grin the best.DSC_0709

Now, over two months later, she still loves it!  And by the way, searching on Pinterest for things like this is so much better than on any other search engine, because it’s pretty much the best of the best.  What other people truly liked and something you can SEE!  You can follow me HERE if you’d like!

I actually have your pleated pouch tutorial pinned. I am planning on making 5 of them as bridesmaids gifts for my wedding this July! Just got the fabric and zippers in the mail!

How adorable! B looks like she loves it. I love it when handmade gifts turn out so wonderfully.

I would definitely make these for my boys if I wasn’t 100 percent sure they would become swords by the end of the day. :) It’s not really Owen either. That feisty Reid would be the culprit.

Totally gorgeous. I have a three year old too… He is completely dog orientated though. Maybe I could make it a bit more doggish. I’ll have to try and see!

What a cute horse! I am going to try and tackle one for my son for Christmas. I am going to try to make it look like Bullseye from Toy Story. It will save my back!

Glad to know your daughter still loves it…
