The Never Before Blogged School Shirts

02/18/2015 By Christie Leave a Comment

school shirts // lemon squeezy home

So….I’ve been meaning to post these forever.  Or since August of last year. They are my kids’ most worn shirts, after all.  And they were what my boys wore the first day of school and Bailey worse the second day of school.  So here they are :).

The kids all chose graphics for their Rocky, Charlie Brown, and Lego movie shirts, then just told me what they wanted them to say and where to put it. I used Transfer Artist Paper (you can get some on Amazon) to do the graphics.

First up is Carson’s shirt, Rocky.  He was SO disappointed because he said that NO ONE in his class even knew who Rocky was.  But then he must have got over it because he still chose to be Rocky for Halloween.

Since these pictures in August he’s started wearing contacts and grown a good couple inches so he seems to little to me! Goodness time goes so fast these days.  He loves it though despite no one knowing who Rocky Balboa is.

Devon loves all things Charlie Brown and thinks the Peanuts cartoons are awesome and funny, so he chose a Charlie Brown shirt and was happy that people thought his shirt was funny.

I made his first so I didn’t get the neckline quite as good on his shirt. I used some Girl Charlee fabric on the back to liven it up a bit–and I woke him up at about midnight the night before the first day of school to ask him if it was ok because heaven forbid he wakes up to a shirt he doesn’t like.  He groggily told me it was fine. Poor kid.  ;)

He’s also got some rad black frames for glasses since then :).

Then the boys proceeded to have an epic battle to show you what life is like around here more often than not.

Clearly, they both thought they were the winner.

Bailey liked the Lego Movie just as much as the boys so she went that route.

And her change?  Well this was before she cut herself her second mullet in her lifetime.  Her hair still isn’t back to this length.  Ah these kids.  Love them.

The pattern for the boys’ shirts was from Peekaboo Pattern Shop, the Play Date V-Neck that Amy was so nice to send to me.  It’s a great pattern.  I think I would change the ribbing on the V to be wider.  Other than that it’s a pretty good fit for them.  Bailey is wearing See Kate Sew’s Pippa Peplum.  The neckline is much too big on Bailey but she tends to be a lot more narrow than most patterns measure for, so I could have adjusted it beforehand but didn’t.  It’s a cute shirt though and I love the star fabric on the bottom.  It’s from l’oiseau fabrics and I love how great of quality it is!  I was sent some for free and used some different star fabric in poplin for the Ash Jumpsuit on Ruby HERE.
