Two Hatteras Hoodies and a Hideaway Hoodie

Today I am over on Project Run and Play sharing how to sew on the leather elbow patches you’ll see with these shirts. Click HERE to see the tutorial. Doing a guest post is always a good reason to buy some new patterns you’ve been wanting for a while, am I right? Enter the Hatteras Hoodie and the Hideaway Hoodie.

First up, the Hatteras Hoodie, sans hoodie. This is view B and I love love love it. I want to make her like 5 more. I followed the instructions to lower the front of the shirt (though I do love that design element of the pattern) so she could wear it without a shirt underneath. I made size 3 for her so that it will fit her next winter. She’s on the small side for a two year old but turns 3 in a couple months.

And here’s those quilted heart elbow patches that are so cute.

I love the seams that end up on the front rather than under the arms.

Taking cues from older sister as I take her pics.

While we are on the Hatteras Hoodie, here is View A. He just turned 11 a month ago, and this is size 12. It is a slim fitting design and Adrianna suggests sizing up if you want a looser fit.

He wore it to school the first chance he had, which is always a great sign. My oldest son won’t wear anything I sew anymore, so it’s nice to sew for this kiddo and have him appreciate it still.

And finally, here is the Hideaway Hoodie. I adore the crossover hood portion on the front, and that pocket! I love the little peak of color you see from the pocket, in a size 8. She turns 8 in September, so again, I would like this to fit next winter.

The hood portion is huge, but I actually really like the over sized hood.  I think the sleeves and cuffs are too long. I even cut off 1.5″ and they are still so long. I do love the thumb holes though. I would decrease the width of the cuffs so they fit tighter, as well as cut off some length on the sleeves and cuffs.

The way the pattern directs you to make the pockets is pretty genius as well.

Little sister was bummed she didn’t have pockets on her shirt so she decided on the next best thing.
