8 months old

8 months
Little Rubes is 8 months old and as active as ever! As of the last 2 weeks, she has been bursting with energy! For a while after surgery people were asking if she had a lot more energy…and I’d answer not really. But now I can answer with a resounding YES! She is like a different baby! She is full of energy and curiosity. I just love it! That picture above is the only one I could catch before she discovered the letters. :)

Some exciting things this month:  she’s rolling over more and more.  She isn’t sitting and is a little behind verbally as well, but that is expected after open heart surgery between her chest and sternum being cut open, along with the breathing tube.  I’m not concerned so much but it is nice to know what is normal after surgery and what is not.   8 months
She went to church with us all again for the first time in three months!  She enjoyed it thoroughly and was quite overly-stimulated during it all.  My kids were so so happy she came with us.
church!
She gained 13 oz. in a week!  But then slowed down again.  It’s also common for heart babies to remain small for the first few years and will eventually catch up!  So last week she was 13 lbs. 13 oz.

We just love this fuzzy-headed baby!  So much.  We are so blessed everything went so well!
happy baby
And here’s the monthly re-cap!

Yay! Glad she is doing so well! She’s so cute and seems to always be happy. On a side note…my daughter was 13 lbs 15 oz at her one year appointment and didn’t have heart issues. So I definitely wouldn’t worry about her size. My daughter is still much smaller than all of the other kids her age, but holds her own.

I get so emotional looking at this precious gift from God. I am so happy she is doing well.
