Alien Party, Part One

03/09/2010 By Christie

DSCF7109 - CopyMy son D turned 5 last week. He requested an Alien Party! I had a lot of fun planning his party, and I decided I’d share some of the things I did in case it could help anyone else in their party planning.

This post will show you how to make some Alien Invitations, complete with downloadable templates. Please know that I just free-handed it, so the aliens aren’t perfect!
It all started with this little sketch. D said he thought it was cute, so that’s what we went with.

Start by cutting your paper in half the long way (hot dog way). Fold each side in half. Trace your alien so the top of it is on the fold.

You can find the downloadable version HERE.

And HERE.

Find a cup to trace for the alien’s smile.

Cut out the eyes and glue on. Cut out the antenna and glue onto the back.

I used Word and made ovals that had the following measurements:

The aliens are holding little signs, which you can download HERE. I just attached these to a toothpick and punched a couple tiny holes in the alien’s hand to put the toothpick through (I did cut off the pointy end of the toothpick).
This large size Fiskars punch worked perfect around the circles. Or just cut out the circles as they are!

My son helped me make them and was so excited to hand them out!

Cute idea. I love it. I also loved that you used google docs, because I have been looking for a way to do downloads and I wasn’t sure they worked. YAY. I love when people are smarter than me and then I can benefit! Haha.

My son (going to be 4) was sitting in my lap as I came across this post and now HE wants an alien themed party…I’m so glad I came across this! Thank you so much for sharing… I’m excited, it’s the first year he actually picked out a theme on his own! =D
