Family pictures stress me out! Mostly choosing out what we’ll wear and making sure we don’t clash with each other. And even when they are over with and I breath a sigh of relief, I still find things I should have changed, but don’t care anymore because they are TAKEN! ![]()
I knew I wanted to have a lace top and decided that I’d make B a lace dress. ![]()
Unfortunately, I chose really crumby fabric to work with, so the project took longer than it should have! Oh well…live and learn. ![]()
Using Dana’s Shirt Dress Tutorial, I cut out one pattern in the black fabric, and one pattern in the lace, like Katy did HERE. (I’m going to attempt the same thing for me someday)![]()
The gray lace at the bottom was added about 1/2 an hour before we had to leave to take the pictures… because I cut off too much of the bottom and it was way too short. Thankfully I had a gray clearance Target skirt to cut up and use, because it tied in the grays from the boys’ shirts.![]()

Overall I was happy with how it turned out. And B was more than happy to oblige with her cheesy grins ;). ![]()
What a great looking family you have! I love the dress, you did a wonderful job on it. Super cute

B is so stinkin’ cute!! I can’t get over her grins and her posing. She reminds me of Ponyo!
so, so cute
Really sweet dress. I just don’t have the nerve to tackle anything with lace, and to be honest it is not really me! I love B’s dress though.
I love her dress! I totally noticed it in the pics. So adorable.
I’ve used that exact black lace before… I know how that is!! I love the dress though, little girls are so beautiful in black, but rarely can we find anything at the store! Looks great :)
I think the gray lace at the bottom is what makes it so pretty. Nice last minute decision!
So cute! I love it.
Your family picture turned out great. I don’t think you have to worry, unlike the families featured here…

haha!
I know exactly what you mean. We have our family pictures on this Saturday. I sorta made the whole family’s outfits coordinate with my daughters outfit- then now she has a whole body rash from her flu shot and so I have to change her outfit to long sleeves so that rash doesn’t show! Wish me luck! :) It’s so tough to find that balance where you coordinate but don’t look all matchy matchy….
Oh I love the dress, gorgeous. Thanks for a really awesome blog too by the way. I’ve just found my way here and love it, love everything you’ve done!
That dress is adorable!!! I wish I made more clothing for my girls when they were little – all I did were a few dresses and some pj’s. I never wanted to do much because they always grew out of things before I could finish them. Now that they’re older (maybe stopped growing?) I can make things for them, but they wouldn’t go for cute and ruffly like I’d want to make!
Your family is so cute and “B’s” dress is darling! You did a great job!
Oh but that dress is so darling!
