Oh boy! It’s finally here! Are you all excited for Purse Week? Make sure to get those purses made and submitted to the flickr group by this Friday, September 30th, by 11:59 pm MST, making sure to read through the rules first ;). Also, be sure to check out the prizes!
The judges will be narrowing it down to the top 10 this weekend. The top 10 will be announced on Monday, October 3rd, with reader voting open until Wednesday, 11:59 pm MST. The winners will be announced Thursday, October 6th.
Now let’s get on with it! We will kick off our purse week with the lovely Dorian of Busily Spinning Momma.
The Rustic Spoon Pendant caught my eye the moment I clicked onto her blog. Isn’t it so pretty and original? I love it. Jewelry seems to be a specialty of Dorian’s!
I am loving her newest tutorial for the Pillow Fight Shield! How perfect this would be for my two boys!
Dorian also has a lot of fun refashions for all those shirts that are looking a bit drab. How about this Pretty in Pleats t-shirt refashion?
Such fun tutorials, and today Dorian does not disappoint as the first guest of Purse Week. Here she is!____________________________________________________________________________
Hi A Lemon Squeezy Home readers! I can’t begin to tell you how very excited I am to be participating in Christie’s Purse Week! Christie’s blog was one of the very first I started reading when I was still learning about this beautiful community of bloggers. I have always loved Christie’s colorful and fun kid’s project and am constantly admiring her amazing skills as a sewist. Or sewer? Does anyone know the answer to that?! Anyway, Christie rocks but you all know that already :)
My name is Dorian and I blog over at Busily Spinning Momma. I am the proud momma of two boys, ages 3 and 18 months. They have really made my life everything I ever hope it was just by having the privilege to be their momma and boy, do they keep me on my feet! Something about me that is near and dear to my heart, is my sweet 18 month old baby, Ben. We had a scare with him when I was preggo and thought we were gonna lose him. Through God’s mercy we didn’t. He is deaf and special needs…but beyond being deaf and special needs, he is BEAUTIFUL. So very beautiful. And my lil’ guy has taught me more about courage, strength and faith in 18 months that I could’ve ever hoped to learn in a lifetime. My oldest Noah, is the bestest (yes BESTEST…it’s a word!!!) big brother in the world, he makes me so proud. We’re pretty close, and SO much alike. He’s my little “best friend”. He starts school next September and yes, I have already started crying. Wuss.
Over at my blog, I talk mostly about sewing (with a dash of home decor and crafting thrown in), but here’s the thing…I’m a self taught sewist. So I may not always have the right terminology, or even the right technique down pat. But I’m working on it! I have ALWAYS wanted to be able to sew and it’s because of all the wonderful sewing blogs and tutorials out there that I now can! (even if just a little!) And if you’re thinking about learning to sew…DO IT! You’ll wonder why you didn’t learn sooner! And FYI…I just enrolled in my FIRST sewing course. Woot woot. My purse tutorial today is what I call the “In the Garden Quilted Tote”. Fancy, huh? It’s a simple quilted tote made from one charm pack. I have never quilted before this bag. THAT’S how easy peasy it is to make! If I can do it, you can too! It’s super sturdy, super cute, and not very expensive to make. It can carry beach towels (next summer, that is!), books, a laptop or be used as a diaper bag. It’s really versatile :) And my tutorial is a FULL PICTURE tutorial, that took me like 3 MILLION hours to edit and post. I don’t mind if at least one person finds it useful. So, please head on over take a look-see :) I love to meet new friends!

What a great tote. It’d be an awesome way to use up some scrap materials.

That tote is beautiful! I need more bags like I need a hole in my head, but I may just have to add this one to my list!
