Butterfly Party

10/02/2012 By Christie

Poppy turned four a couple weeks ago.  She is growing up way too fast!  What a fun little girl she is.  So full of personality!  She chose to have a butterfly party for her birthday.

Invitations and Party Favors

I made the invitations with picmonkey and just printed them off at home since the photo lab I used was having problems.

I saw these fun butterfly treat bags on a few websites.  I filled mine with that red party string stuff because it was a ton of candy in each baggie!

Simple favors—just the butterfly treat and bubbles, and of course they got to keep their butterfly wings.  I found those at Asian City in West Jordan (UT), for $1.99 each. DSC_0678DSC_0679DSC_0687

Decorations and Food

I found most of my inspiration (and full out copying) for the décor on THIS post.  So pretty.  I bought the paper lanterns at Asian City also, but I’ve bought some of these before online.

I made some ruffled crepe paper streamers to hang from the borrowed canopy (I first saw this idea HERE).

I used my silhouette to cut out a lot of pretty butterflies for the whole party—for the paper lanterns, the party favor bags, etc.

And Poppy was thrilled when she spotted these at the dollar store—and they were on sale, so each pack of 8 (plates, cups, napkins) were only $0.25 each!

The front door just had a few pretty butterflies taped to it.

The Games

We kept the games very simple, since they were all four year olds.  Plus we took play breaks in between each activity.

First, we chased and popped bubbles.

Next, we decorated some butterflies with some stickers and markers (and a dragonfly for the cute boy in the pictures).  Most of them took a really long time to color and decorate.  You should have heard the fun they had while they chatted and colored.  It was very entertaining!

The last structured activity was painting butterflies on their adorable faces.

I’m no expert face painter, but with each kid I got better.  I think I should have practiced it a bit beforehand, but they still thought it was awesome.

And that is that!  Happy Birthday to my beautiful brown-eyed girl!

Love it!! Just wanted to point out to you that your daughters name isn’t blurred out on the invites, in case you cared. TTYL!

Eep! Super cute! I’ve also seen butterfly/fairy wings at Dollar Tree. This was a very sweet little birthday party!

You forgot to mention how you cleverly turned J’s wings into dragonfly wings! Ha ha! So cute

This makes me want to throw a party too! Too bad there aren’t any kiddies around :(
    I love what you did!
