At our cousin camp this year, Poppy wanted to make a skirt rather than pj bottoms. I had bought half a yard of ruffle fabric during my quilt class for 40% off, making it about $6.00 for the half yard.
That ruffle fabric is a bit pricey, but it sure is fun fabric! I also got the colored elastic with the voucher for the quilt class—I bought a couple other beautiful colors as well.
For the skirt I used Dana’s famous Circle Skirt tutorial, but since I didn’t have it long enough, I had to cut four sections of fabric, which is why you get the fun seams down the front and back. It uses less fabric this way as well, which I’ll remember if I’m low on fabric for a circle skirt.
Thanks for stopping by!

Super cute! I need to get our the heavier fall fabrics and make my daughter some new skirts. Love the ruffle fabric!

Call me incompetent but could you explain or show pictures on how you cut the fabric? I don’t understand.

I wish I had taken pictures of the process, but you’ll just have a 1/4of a circle following Dana’s instructions. Rather than folding your fabric so it’s one continuous circle, as Dana suggests, you’ll cut four different sections of the fabric and sew those together, making 4 seams–one down the front, back, and both sides. I’m sorry, it’s hard to explain without pictures and I don’t have any more fabric, but if I get any more, then I’ll be sure to post pictures of how I did it.

Cute. I like how the ruffles lay. Very pretty!
