Thank you all so very much for your concern and advice on my post last week. You have no idea how much that means to me that so many of you would take your time and let me know your experiences! I have taken notes and will be bringing them along to his appointment later today. I’m sure they will prove useful in our discussion with his doctor. He had a couple more episodes last week, and I’m leaning towards thinking he has some sort of sleep apnea, just by the way he wakes gasping. So we’ll see! Thank you thank you!
A new family home evening board has been on my list for a really long time! In the LDS church, they encourage families to hold family home evening on Monday nights to teach your children more about what we believe in, and strengthen your family. I had made a family home evening board during a church activity years ago, but I painted it maroon. I did not want to make the mistake of putting so much work into something that I will dislike in a year or two, so this is the perfect solution. I just swap out the top paper as my favorite colors and font change. This idea is not my own, I got it from Delia’s FHE board HERE. You’ll see that mine is very similar.
I used a magnetic sheet from Home Depot for the backing behind the paper. It’s $0.95 for an 8×12 piece, by the gutter supplies. The wood ovals are from Hobby Lobby—they come in a pack of various sizes for $2.99. Then of course the frame and magnets.
I’m bad and just used my scissors to cut the metal to 8×10. My hubby has stuff to cut it but I kept forgetting to remind him to bring it home with him. Just be careful because it is sharp!
I painted the wood pieces white, knowing I couldn’t perfectly cut out the names and it’d be more obvious if it was a different color behind the names.
I made ovals and our names in Word and cut them out, then mod podged them onto the wood pieces once they were dry.
Then glued a magnet on the back and I was finally done.
And since there are only five of us in my family, I decided to double up “activity and treat” on the same person, rather than making two names for each person. My kids didn’t think it was a good idea, but that person will have extra fun each week when they land on that one!
What a dark and gloomy day it was when taking these pictures! We’ve been having a lot of rain the last few days here, which is great because there have been a few fires burning in our county this past week. So we’ll take the rain!

This is SUPER cute! Our FHEs are so scattered and disorganized. I really need to work on that.
I hope the apt went well today and you’re getting some answers for C. I had night terrors and frequently get what’s called Sleep Paralysis. As horrible as that it is, it’s nothing like what you describe poor C suffering from. So sad, scary and frustrating!

I love this chart! So cute. I’m glad you got to check this project off your list- you mentioned it at the Gateway and I’ve been looking for it!

Thanks for linking to me. Your board is so clean and fresh and pretty. Love, love it.

This is so cute and looks super easy! How did you design the background?

I like it. It’s simple, and something that even I of the less than crafty abilities can do. Looks like I have an activity for my next FHE. Thanks!
