I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s weekend! My mother-in-law took all my husband’s family to Park City for the weekend. It was great to have our expenses paid for. And as romantic as it was having our kids in our hotel and especially our 17 month old thinking it was great fun to play until midnight, it really was a fun trip.
Now we are back and today, after cleaning cleaning cleaning all morning and spending time with the kiddos, I decided to take a break and make my friend her b-day present. I love how it turned out! I used THIS tuturial. I think next time I will sew about an inch further towards the middle on both sides. It was very easy–totally a beginner sewing project!
I also finally made my daughter her boots–it was her V-day present. I ordered this pattern at the end of the summer off of Etsy from IThinkSew. But I was too intimidated by the many pages of instructions to make it. They were time-consuming to make and not all that easy for me, but I think it’s mainly because it was my first time making them, it was late at night, and also because I didn’t cut my patterns out very straight. Don’t you love the bird fabric from Ikea? I totally do–I plan to embellish a shirt and make a skirt with it for B.
So, note to self: It’s really a good idea to use the pattern rather than estimate the distance around to make them bigger. Lesson learned. Here’s to next time being a smoother finish than these!

The boots look very cute. I can’t tell you made any shortcuts:) I haven’t tried any of that sort of stuff since my kids were young. Cute scarf too. I’ll have to show my daughter. She’s the crafty one now.
