This was a fun project using Anna’s tutorial from Noodlehead for her Gathered Clutch. I love how it turned out.
My zipper turned out a little funny on the right side, but it’s still cute! Anna pays really close attention to detail, and her work always looks so professional! So hers zippers don’t look like mine;).

Here is a fun burp cloth that is super easy to make, using Jill’s tutorial from Homemade By Jill for her burp cloths.
I hope someday to crank out a bunch of both of these cute projects so that I just have them on hand! But I do like to sew for other people—it’d just be nice to give the gift on their actual b-day or the week they have a baby, rather than WAY later as in both these cases! Better late than never, I suppose!
When it’s time to give a gift, I think of our budget and how I already have stuff to make a gift, so it’s practically free minus the time. Sometimes I know it’d be so much easier to just buy something, but there is just this thing about a handmade gift that I love. It just feels good.

The bag is cute. And I totally agree on the birthday present giving. Home made and the day/week of makes it that much more special.

I couldn’t agree more with the handmade gift being that much more special.

I think handmade gifts are more special too… especially in a world that is far too commercial!
As for the zipper, I know what happened, cause I did the same thing. You have to sew around the zipper tabs rather than over them, or they won’t turn. This is why she stresses the length of the zipper – if its any longer than 8.5 inches, it’s impossible to sew around!
BTW – I actually like the rounded zipper edge – so much that now I do it on purpose!

so pretty Christie! Glad you got a chance to make one.

I love the zippered bag! I think you did a great job. I have yet to try zippers. :)
