First off, I apologize for the lack in quality photos–I made this at night so the lighting wasn’t very good. Also, I didn’t take a picture of every step!
-First, cut nine 4″x 4″ squares out of burlap. My burlap was the sage color.
-Next, I traced my LUCK letters onto freezer paper, cut out, and ironed onto the center of the burlap squares. I used Copperplate Gothic font, sized 220.
-I used a clover similar to THIS one, and just resized it in Microsoft Word to be about the same size as the letters. For some reason, even after 15 minutes of searching, I can’t seem to find the exact one I used.

-Now, paint each burlap piece. I chose black paint.
-Now, paint each burlap piece. I chose black paint.
-Cut out nine 5″ x 5″ squares fabric of choice. I used this damask green and cream that I already had.
-Now sew about 1/2″ from the edge of the burlap–I used black thread. Just sew around the whole square.
-Cut about 100″ of ribbon. I kind of just laid mine out at this point, and after measuring in about 14″, I started sewing the squares onto the ribbon, leaving a 3″ gap in between each square. So these aren’t exact measurments, and it also depends on where you are hanging it. I don’t have a mantel, so I ended up hanging it over my curtains in my kitchen. So you may have to adjust the spacing in between your squares.
-Next I just measured out some cream ric-rac, 11 pieces, each cut 8″-9″. I tied them around the black ribbon the “loop” way: make a loop and stick the other two ends through it and pull tight.
-I hung some rope along the length of the ribbon as well, to just add some detail. It was $0.67/yard at Walmart. First I hung it on my wall so you could see the details a little better without the sun shining through it:).

And now, it hangs in my kitchen.

i love that green fabric. and as cute as it is in the pics, its even cuter in real life. good job, as always.
So cute! It looks very pretty hanging on your curtains!
Love the ric-rac in between the squares. Great job!
