St. Patrick’s Day

02/27/2010 By Christie

The winter months are getting BORING, and I love to help my kids have something to look forward to. I had absolutely nothing at all for St. Patrick’s Day. And, since green is my favorite color, I thought why not? This is actually an IRISH saying! I was happy to find that out online! (I just typed Irish Sayings into google).

The tray idea is from Tator Tots and Jello–she made a round one that was just SO cute. She has a great website with so many wonderful ideas! I got this tray at DI for $1.50 and the scrapbook paper from Heartland Paper. I saw someone use ribbon on a dish just like this one, but I don’t remember where now!
Hanging on my front door.
Here is another idea inspired by Tator Tots and Jello. Jen made Valentine’s Day marble XOXO’s. I saw these green marbles for $1.50 at Walmart and thought I could figure something out with them.
Painted shamrocks with freezer paper–my kids painted their own.
Finally, my burlap banner. The tutorial is ready, I’m just going to post it in the next couple of days.
Total spent on everything above? Less than $8.00. Look around your house–you might have some things that are easily transformed or used for stuff like this!
P.S. I’m trying to post twice a week, so I have to spread out my projects a bit, even if they are ready! This post is actually counting as one next week because my son’s birthday is next week and I want to focus on him and his party more.

I was just having a discussion with my mom about decorations for St. Patrick’s day being so boring. YOu made them less boring! I’m impressed! I really think the green and white thing doesn’t work for me and “they” need to add another color (like they did for Halloween with the purple). I’m thinking “we” should make that extra color navy like you did! Very nice!

Nice ideas. I especially like the green stones made in to a shamrock decoration – I have not seen anything like it before, but I really like how it looks.

They are all great! But my favorite is the Irish quote in the frame! Love it! I didn’t know it was Irish either! Very nice!

how did you make the freezer paper shamrock shirts? I don’t understand the freezer paper part. They are adorable and I must make them – today because tomorrow is St. Paddy’s day. Nothing like procrastinating! hahaa
