My $2.00 Scarf, Scarf Love, and a Scarf Linky Party

11/03/2010 By Christie

DSCF3065

While at the Dollar Tree yesterday, I picked up a couple scarves.DSCF3052

I cut up one of them into some strips of varying sizes.DSCF3053

Then I rolled the strips up into those fabric flowers you see everywhere. DSCF3054 DSCF3055

Glued the fabric flowers with fabric glue and hot glue (I really did use both—no reason, just because). DSCF3057

I took some buttons off a jacket that was thrifted.DSCF3059

Glued them onto some of the flowers.DSCF3058
Then glued them onto my scarf.  You could hand-sew them on as well, if you’d rather.DSCF3066

And there you have it—my mini tutorial for my $2.00 scarf.  Super easy, super quick.

And I’m sure totally unoriginal, but I did it anyways:).

Here are just a few of the scarves I have in my favorites folder that I’d like to make someday.

Ruffles and Stuff:  Crinkle Scarf
I Am Momma, Hear Me Roar:  Upcycled Scarflette here Whip Up
MADE:  Summer Scarf
Living With Punks:  The Momma Ruffle Scarf
Pretty Ditty:  Anthro inspired scarf/shawl[scarf+1a.jpg]
Made by Lex:  Tie Dye Scarf
Vermillion Rules:  T-shirt Ruffle Scarf[DSC_1001.JPG](I actually have made one of these before for a friend, but have yet to make one for myself)
So let’s see them!  Link to your own tutorial for a scarf (or cowl, or whatever else they call them these days).  You could also link to someone else’s scarf tutorials you have tried or would like to.

I like how many things you did ‘because I wanted to’. ;) hehe. Your scarf looks really cute! I love colors like yellow to brighten up a gloomily cold day. I don’t have much for scarves right now because I keep swearing up and down I’ll make myself a few. Guess how that’s working out for me. suuuuuuuuper good. For some insane reason I’ve got at least 8 of the Aesthetic Nest Baby Cloche/Toddler Cloche floating around, but I somehow haven’t got a moment to make myself a scarf. Hm.

Your yellow scarf: gorgeous! I love the idea of matching the flowers exactly, instead of using a different complementary fabric. For a mere extra dollar, huge design points!

I have a new love for scarves. I linked my newest that I made for my daughter. I have a link party going on at my blog “A Week of FELT!” I hope you can swing by!

I love the color of your scarf! I have to go hit up my dollar tree this weekend – i’ve gotten a bunch of new plain tees that I’d like to dress up with a scarf.
