This little mini quilt was so fun to make! I loved using my creativity on this, and can’t wait to make the other three Sew Mojo Quilts by Suzy’s Quilts. (Side note: I pretty much love everything Suzy does. Her feed on Instagram is my most favorite of all time.)
Hand quilting is something I have always admired, but not anything I ever tried, or even wanted to try. Way too intimidating. This quilt has completely changed my thinking. I don’t even care how long it takes, I will be hand quilting an entire quilt at some point! It was so relaxing and it’s just so beautiful. I can’t explain why it is so satisfying when it takes so much longer than machine quilting, but it really is.
I had some holes from unpicking a design I didn’t like, but some water and pressing got rid of them nicely.
My kids loved looking at the back.
My mat opening was just slightly larger than the finished mini quilt. So I had to go a different route. I just bought some foam board and cut it to the size of the frame and mounted the quilt on the board. It was a tight squeeze fitting the foam and back of the frame in, but I got it. I used frames from Ikea. 16×20 for $10.
My only problem is taking pics once framed. I wanted to maybe not have the glass on, but then it will just get dirty over time so I’ll keep it on there. I can’t wait to make the next quilt!
All fabric is Cotton + Steel.

As I commented on Instagram already, this is such a cute little quilt! I love the colors of your topstitching thread. And you’re right: hand stitches are so much more beautiful than machine stitches!

I Love each this. I have never quilted before but I think this would be a great thing to start with. Good job on the hand stitches too. I wouldn’t be that brave!

I love the mini quilts! You can see the freedom and colors blend so well. I enjoyed looking at them. Great work!
