Oh hi, friends. Today I get to show you what I sewed using my beautiful, amazing, and talented friend’s new pattern.
Abby from Sew Much Ado recently released The Skipper Top. It’s a mini version of her woman’s pattern, The Seafarer Top. If you are a beginner, this is the pattern for you!
It is a simple and quick sew, and combined with how cute they turn out, it’s a winning combination. Abby walks you through the process and gives you plenty of tips for sewing with knits to help you feel confident. Bailey and I LOVE how these turned out! I could make a dozen more out of fun prints and not tire of them. They are so cute and comfortable.
Bailey just turned 5 this past September. Her chest measures 21”, so I sized down to the 4 but kept the length at a size 5. They fit her great.
There are a few combinations you could sew as well. This one I stuck with the hemmed arms, neckline, and waist—using a double needle to finish them off. So, so fast. I tried the heart pocket on this shirt but I didn’t sew it very well so ended up taking it off.
The other variation included in the pattern was banding the waist, arms, and neckline. You could of course mix these options together—throw in a banded waistband with hemmed sleeves rather than banded, etc. You get the idea. Lots of options.
I really love how the shirts look with legging!
This girl has some moves! That bottom left picture is a keeper. I should just say Bailey is a keeper ;).
I absolutely recommend this pattern. I LOVE how it turned out and love even more how quick the tops were to cut out and sew. Thank you Abby!!!
