Olivia Dress {CINO Pattern Review and GIVEAWAY!}

10/17/2013 By Christie

DSC_0304

I am so happy Jess from Craftiness is not Optional let me be a part of her Olivia Dress/Top tour!  I don’t think you’ll ask why because really, look at this dress!  I am in love with it!

Olivia Dress Collage

Jess has put together yet another beautiful pattern.  Beautifully detailed to get a very polished finish on your dress or top.

Olivia Running

Bailey told me she wanted a top, but I knew better ;).  I wanted to make it into a dress and she really loves it.  She was very happy to frolic through the beautiful leaves for me, with no prompting whatsoever.

DSC_0341

I actually intended on making the elbow length sleeves and even had them sewn on—not finished, but I could visualize how they would look and I ended up liking the sleeveless version better.  It’s almost like a faux sleeve though.  I love it!

Olivia Dress

I used black corduroy for the top and made the bias tape out of it as well.  Jess has you do a fun trick with the bias tape so you don’t have to tuck it under and try and sew over a bulky portion—it fits perfectly the way she has you sew the bias tape on.

DSC_0306

Bailey got this dress on and danced, jumped and did even more frolicking in the leaves.  Then she said, “Momma, it is so beautiful up here!  We really need to bring the boys!”

Olivia Flies

Thank you Jess, for such a fun pattern.  I know I sound like broken record, but I LOVE how this dress turned out.  I even called my husband to tell him how adorable Bailey looked in it.  So cute.

Here’s the others who are participating in the tour:

I love her patterns, mostly because her girls are about the same age as my girls. Makes sewing them up easy. :) But she also just seems like a fun neighbor next door, one that you could talk sewing with.

    Your photos are beautiful!

Jess has a lot of really fabulous patterns! They are all so cute that I’m having trouble deciding where to begin. I haven’t bought one yet for that reason. I’d love to win a copy of this pattern to get familiar with her patterns, and I know I’d end up coming back for more! :-)

Thanks for including all of the info about the fabric and patterns you used. I find that really helpful. I’m about to add your blog to my Feedly reader. :-)
