I was checking out at a Costco that just happens to be right next to the hospital I’m delivering at. The two men helping me load my cart and ring up my items were probably in their 60’s. The cashier looked at my belly and said, “So, you must have about a month left?” As a matter of fact, at the time I did have almost exactly a month left. The other man said, “But you’re pretty small, so it must be a girl.” I told them they were both exactly right. It made me laugh because they must be experts with all the pregnant ladies walking around their store.
Oh my friends, I can’t tell you how extremely thankful I have been for this pregnancy. Sure there were hard days, but after wanting this little one so badly, I feel like the outlook on being pregnant was different this time. Of course I was thankful to be pregnant with my other sweet kids, but everything that comes with pregnancy has been easier this time around, somehow. And I find that I am still in awe of this whole ‘growing a baby’ process.
I have a scheduled c-section in 8 days (June 5th), as many of you know. This is likely the last time I will experience being pregnant and there is a part of me that knows I will miss this sweet girl being with me all the time.
But I cannot wait to hold her in my arms. Those first moments of meeting your beautiful new baby are some of the most sacred memories of my life. I’m kind of an emotional basket case this last week, so even typing that makes me cry.
This is the last week Poppy will be the only girl and the last week as the youngest. She is ecstatic at the moment. She keeps saying, “Only 8 more days! I can’t wait!!!” Hopefully her enthusiasm can stick around as she adjusts to the big changes ahead.
And I’ve already warned her and my boys that I will still LOOK pregnant upon arriving home and will remain so for a while ;).
If I had not been so concerned with my boys finishing their chores, I would have made them come up for a couple shots as well. They also love to hug and pat my belly, and they think feeling her move is just about the coolest thing these days. They are always so impressed by how hard she can kick, and by how often she gets the hiccups.
Happy almost birthday little baby. We pray your arrival is safe and can’t wait to meet you! Now, if only Dillon and I could agree on a name ;).

Made me re-feel (and re-cry) all the emotions upon coming back home with my baby-girl 4 (!) years ago! Thank you for this sincere and thoughtful post. Will pray for your family and for the safe arrival;) God bless you and happy almost birthday!

You are TINY! Seriously. I just had a baby 1 week ago and I was twice your size (and he was 9lbs…). I’m impressed the cashier guessed right because you are so small! So jealous! I hope it all goes well and I’m happy you’ll get to meet this little one soon!

Okay now you had ME sniffling. All the best in your last little bit of pregnancy, I bet you’re treasuring it just a little bit extra for what it is. But of course no matter what, one is always so excited to finally meet the little person they’ve been whispering love to for months and months!
I’ll be thinking of you and your little family!

Gorgeous pictures, Christie! You look incredible. Can’t wait to see your little girl and hear what you name her! I haven’t really taken any pregnant pictures other than my cell phone and the mirror. I think I need to add that to the list! These are SO pretty.

Like everyone else said….you look great! You are definitely one that shines when pregnant. I, on the other hand, does not, and also looks like a whale like someone else mentioned. :) Good luck and I can’t wait to see pics of the baby girl.
