Chevron and Bird Baby Blankets

05/30/2013 By Christie

I love making blankets.  They are just so easy and I love all the great fabrics there are to choose from.

After I made THIS chevron baby blanket, I wanted to try it in knit.

So using THIS same soft backing for the blanket and THIS chevron knit from Girl Charlee, I got to work.

It turned out lovely.  So soft and cuddly.  If I sew another blanket like this in the future, I will use my walking foot however to keep the layers more stable.  There is one part the knit got a little weird, but since it’s not a gift, I’m totally ok with that.

The other blanket I made is just flannel.  But I love the print so much.

Yep, I love sewing simple blankets.

I have used a ton of the coral emberglow knit chevron from GC for swaddle blankets in my shop — just another option for you for your blanket sewing. I keep it a single layer and serge the edges. ;)

LOVE the fabrics and the blankets are simple yet adorable!! I actually own the bird fabric and am going to have to purchase the chevron now after viewing it! I am new to sewing…on your second blanket with the birds on a wire…what stitch did you use? Thanks!

forever fancy: I just used a twin needle and a straight stitch with two different threads and the back ends up doing that pattern. Hope that helps!
