This was intended to be Ruby’s birthday dress. And it was finished by the time I took her bday pictures, even if it was two months past her birthday, and a couple top teeth later for her.
Then I finally blogged it 5 months after her birthday. Fourth child problems maybe? I don’t know. I guess sometimes editing pictures and writing up a post just isn’t the number one priority.
The Soleil dress is a fun sew. This knit was not the best to work with, yet again! I need to not choose slinky knits for more structured dresses. Plus, I don’t know what was going on with my needle but it was just shredding the fabric I bought at Nuttall’s in Salt Lake.
In fact, the only reason there is a bow on the dress (which, I might add, is an adorable addition) is because the fabric ripped right there so badly. Very frustrating to spend time on something that you don’t know will survive the first wash. And I’ve since learned that it did not survive the first washing :(. The fabric seriously just had holes everywhere I sewed. I’m guessing needle problems? Maybe it wasn’t sharp or was too big or I don’t know.
But on a more positive note, it was adorable for the pictures! And Ruby did not disappoint with this photo shoot. But let’s be honest, does she ever?!
The answer to that is no. She does not disappoint me, ever :). Always a fun, fun girl to take pictures of. She’s pretty cute.
And she knows it.
I was laying on the ground taking pictures and she had to come snuggle for a minute. The. Best. Ever.
Had to include a couple recent scar shots!
Yep, picture overload. And a long overdo post. Both things I’m ok with. :)

What a shame that the dress did not hold on. That happens! It does look great on the pictures. And the bow looks great. The good part is that you got all these pictures with your beautiful model and they are awesome. She’s a natural for pictures; or maybe is that you are a great photographer. You do have your priority straight. The kids and family are first.

Thank you Jess! Yes, it’s a bummer. She still has her other soleil dress so that’s good at least!

I feel your frustration on the ripping of the dress’s fabric! But Ruby is just too cute.
